Synopsis

After the horrors of WWI followed by a pandemic flu epidemic, the United States enters the Roaring 20's when partying and lawlessness reign supreme. Nowhere is it more vigorous than at the famed Boreland Springs Hotel nestled in the rugged foothills of the western Appalachians.
Will Hart makes his moonshine delivery at midnight when all goes wrong. Shots are fired on both sides with Will wounded and Wyatt, son of the owner, dead, leaving Will on the run from Wyatt's father John.
Melia Conroy, young daughter of an upstanding but penniless family, finds herself alone and pregnant with Wyatt's, child.
Sil Lockhart,Melia's best friend is with her at a northern adoption agency at the birth when Melia names the baby Charity just before the child is taken from her arms.
The story concerns the struggle of these young people in their attempts to return to the mountains they love, and in the process intertwining their destinies.
The Stock Market Crash, a decade of Depression and WWll, pushes the memory of the affair at the hotel out of recall, until the arrival of Pamela McNeil, a student on a university project researching the killing appears on Sil's porch. She's a dead ringer for Wyatt and Amelia and on her wrist is the tiny necklace Sil had given Charity when she was born! Sil is able to keep Pamela. Who is unaware of her birthplace, out of Melia's path during the week of the assignment. However, soon Sil must make the decision of whether to tell Melia or remain silent. Only when goodbyes are being said at the end of the visit is Sil able to come to the conclusion she feels will be best for all concerned.

Even though I've always loved writing fiction, my previous experience has always concerned non-fiction writings regarding training, competing, and schooling required in movements at each level of competitive dressage, an Olympic discipline which originated as the science of mounted warfare. Now it's time to offer the really fun part of writing: Fiction!
